O God, if the best for me with Thee lies in delaying the taking to task for my sake of him who has wronged me and in refraining from vengeance toward him until the Day of Decision and the Gathering of Disputants, then bless Muhammad and his Household, strengthen me from Thee with true intention and lasting patience, give me refuge from evil desire and the impatience of the greedy, and form in my heart the image of Thy reward which Thou hast stored away for me and the repayment and punishment which Thou has prepared for my disputant! Make this a cause of my contentment with what Thou hast decreed and my trust in what Thou hast chosen! Amen, Lord of the worlds! Thou art of bounty abounding and Thou art powerful over everything. Imam Naqi makes a lion come out of no where...

Seeing this, Imam Ali an-Naqi (as) cast a wrathful glance on the pillow on which there was a picture of a lion and upon which this Indian magician was reclining and resting; he slapped on the pillow and addressed the lion, "What are you looking at, eat up this magician"! As if the lion was waiting for a command from the Imam (as) that it immediately pounced upon the magician and within a matter of seconds, it ate and gobbled him up and then went back to its original shape of a picture!! All the people gathered there were completely spellbound and a deathly silence prevailed. The Imam (as) got up to go when Mutawakkil came begging for the magician to be restored back to life.
The Imam (as) turned around and said, "You shall never get him back, you tried to impose an enemy of Allah upon Allah's friends"; saying this the Imam (as) left."

[This has been taken from the book Mukhtar al-Kharaij wal Jaraih, p.210.]

Imam Naqi was challenged by Mutawakill and his men every now and the, from the topic of his Imamate, to his clothing and repute... Imam Naqi gave this magician, whom was sent by Mutawakil, such a death, that some books say people fainted. This is the power of Imam Ali Al-Hadi An-Naqi (as)!

Punishment for Not Having Straight Lines in Jamaa`ah

One of the biggest sunan (pl. sunnah) acts that we, Shee`ahs, have lost is in regards to the straightening of our lines in Salaah during jamaa`ah. This is a disease that is rampant amongst our shee`ahs all over the world from the east to the west. We are not taking care of our Salaah when we are reading in jamaa`ah. Unfortunately people are not straightening their lines and making sure that they their shoulder’s are touching the shoulders of the people next to them.

This burden of straightening the lines is on the "Imaam" (leader) of the prayer as well as the people reading in the jamaa`ah.

Here is a SaHeeH hadeeth from our books on the punishment that Allaah (سبحانه و تعالى) does on people who abandon straightening their lines, and the ill-effects that it causes the ummah.

I heard Abaa `Abd Allaah (عليه السلام) said that the Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: “O people! Straighten your lines with your shoulders touching each other so in you is friendship, and do not separate, and (if you do separate) Allaah will separate your hearts. And surely I can see you from behind me”

And in a narration Abee Baseer from Abee `Abd Allaah (عليه السلام) said that `Alee (عليه السلام) said: “Whoever doesn’t stand straight in salaah, there is no salaah for him”

Want to know why there is so much disunity amongst our ummah especially amongst our own Shee`ahs? Well now you know.

‘Your Lord has no donkey?’

[Reason and Reward]
Usul al-Kafi, book of reason and ignorance, pg 28

‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abdillah al-Ibrah narrates from ibn Is'haq al-Ahmar from Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Daylami from his father, who said :
I told Abu ‘Abdillah [a], ‘Such and such a person is praiseworthy for his devotion and religious practice.’
The Imam inquired, ‘How is his reason?’
I replied, ‘I know nothing about his reason.’
Upon this, the Imam explained,
‘The Divine reward is in relation to one's reason.

There was a person from Bani Israil who used to worship God devotedly in an island full of lush green and clear water. An angel happened to watch that person, and asked God, ‘Kindly show me the rewards meant for that person.’
When the angel was shown the rewards by God, they appeared to be very little to him. Upon this God suggested to him to go and stay with that person (for some time).
The angel appeared before that man in human guise. The man asked the angel, ‘Who are you?’ The angel replied, ‘I am also one of the devotees of God and I have heard about this place and your worship in it. Therefore, I have come to you so that I can also pray to Almighty God with you.’
So the angel stayed with him for a day. When it was morning, the angel remarked, ‘This is a pleasant place; no place could be better than this for worshiping God.’
Then the devotee-replied, ‘There is only one defect in this place.’
The angel asked what it was and the man replied, ‘My Lord has no animal. If He had a donkey, we could pasture it in this place, for the grass is going waste.’

The angel remarked, ‘Your Lord has no donkey?’
The man further said, ‘If He (Allah) had a donkey such a quality of grass would not be wasted.’
Then Almighty God revealed to the angel, ‘My rewards are in relation to a person's reason.’"
